Good things are happening.
I've already told most everyone in my life, but for those of you who don't know, my mom is officially cancer free. It's been about a week since we got the news and I haven't once stopped feeling extremely gracious for her health and for her life.
I spent the majority of last week with my other family-- my friends. Tuesday was the pre-grand opening of the new Star Tours ride, as well as the new Little Mermaid ride. It's good to be an annual passholder. We stayed for a few hours and then headed home-- or to Heather's. Spent a few hours with my second family before they headed towards Seattle, we drank, laughed, little sister danced with brother and I was adopted by their newest dog. I teared up a bit, but I'm hopeful that I'll get to see them all soon. They're only 19 hours away by car and 2 1/2 by plane. Went to dinner afterwards and then after that, Greg and I went to the park.
Wednesday, we all went clubbing and as usual, it was a hilarious good time. Got hit on by creepy guys. Had to actually assign my friends as protector against one of them. I get it, it's a club and we're obviously going to be dancing and touching, but some guys just take it too far-- he was one of them.
Thursday, we got my mom's biopsy results back! And then I spent the day with Kristin which was awesome-- we got dinner and hot chocolate, talked for hours and wandered around the grocery store because it's sort of our thing. Hours later, Mary and I went to the 24 hour diner nearby and had more hot chocolate. I didn't end up getting home til about 530 Friday morning.
Friday, we had a BBQ for Lydia's 18th birthday. Sean was grill master and we made a 'porno' which was hilarious. After that, we all got our bathing suits, hangers and came back for a sing along. Well, us choir/vocal training girls had a sing along, the others just watched half annoyed, half impressed like they always do. But it's hard to deny, we're good at what we do and we've been doing it for years (as soloists and as a group). After singing for a good while, we made s'mores and laughed around the fire pit, waiting for the spa to heat up. After that, it was all warm water, bubble and massage parties. We were literal prunes when we got out.
This week has been a lot more low-key, but deserved and relaxing.
Spent the afternoon with Greg, got lunch, hung out, watched him crochet. Went to the mall to return a dress, got store credit, nothing too exciting. Passed out after watching Dr. Who.
Tonight we're all going back to the club. Not entirely sure what I'm going to wear which is a problem, but I have a ton of clothes so I'm sure I'll figure it out.
However, I'm most excited by:
The fact that Jon comes home tomorrow and I cannot wait to see him! It's going to be weird having him home for four months when he's been gone for so long and comes home so inconsistently. But I've missed my partner in crime like mad.
And,
My meeting Saturday. It's a training meeting for the summer camp I'm counseling at in the next few weeks... I think I leave the 26th and come back the 14th, just in time for Harry Potter. But it's going to be such a good experience and once I have the hours, it'll be easier to find a childcare related position somewhere.
I just feel like things are getting better, or are heading in that direction. I'm really hoping I'm right.
I know, not a terribly exciting update but I always feel weird when I neglect this thing for too long.
Also, City & Colour's new album "Little Hell" is spectacular. No surprise there, though. I'm hoping to see them when they play Los Angeles again.
